Job Overview: Reporting to the Clinical Laboratory Technical Supervisor you will be a laboratory assistant for a new Donor Screening Lab located in Philadelphia, PA.
Responsibilities:
- Perform specimen accessioning and processing tasks for a variety of donor clinical specimens in preparation for analytical testing.
- Follow established standard operating procedures for all tasks per CLIA regulations and guidelines.
- Understand specimen collection requirements as outlined in standard operating procedures and assess donor specimens for acceptability and specimen integrity according to these requirements.
- Provide timely distribution of specimens to appropriate laboratory sections.
Qualifications:
- Your college/university must have a Co-Op or full-time internship program; you must be able to work full-time onsite for 5-6 months June/July 2023-Dec 2023.
- Working towards a Bachelors' or Masters' degree in the life sciences
- Clinical laboratory receiving area experience including specimen accessioning, labeling, handling, processing, and preservation/storage desired but not required
- Demonstrated efficiency in time management, and prioritization of key activities
- Works proactively and efficiently in a fast-paced, high change environment
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, Outstanding organization skills
- Ability to work as part of a team
