Job Overview: This individual will work across program and functional teams to drive creation and execution of scientific and medical communications covering all stages of preclinical, clinical, patient-centric, and post-marketing research. Manage internal and external team members, investigators, and others to transform research into communications appropriate for highly respected/tiered scientific/medical journals and congresses.
Responsibilities:
- Lead cross-functional publication strategic planning within and across programs
- Drive timely creation and accomplishment of publication plans by coordinating and tracking activities around completed, ongoing, pending, and possible publications
- Work with internal and external preclinical and clinical teams, including investigators and authors, to translate research into scientific/medical presentations and manuscripts for high tiered audiences and in an audience-specific manner, and ensuring individual contributors are meeting milestones to support timely submission deadlines
- Organize analyses and summary outlines or related documents to facilitate team discussion and individual publication decision making
- Create SOPs, working documents, and other publication process-related tools
- Determine and oversee project budgets, pre-identify risks, and facilitate nimble resource reallocation to ensure meeting objectives within projected timelines
Qualifications:
- PhD, MD, PharmD, or MS in a scientific/clinical discipline (preferred)
- 10+ years of medical writing/editing and publication management in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry
- Experience in lipid-related diseases (a plus)
- Start-up or small company experience
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to work with researchers, statisticians, programmers, writers, illustrators, and non-scientific audiences
- Working knowledge of Good Publications Practices and Guidelines for Authorship of the International Congress of Medical Journal Editors
