Job Scope & Purpose:
Our client is seeking an accomplished scientist who will join an interdisciplinary team of highly creative and talented individuals whose mission is to translate pioneering science of non-coding RNAs into transformative medicines for patients. You will have a key role identifying lncRNA/RNA binding protein interactions utilizing their proprietary High Throughput screening (HTS) platform. You will be responsible for optimizing the platform in collaboration with our scientists, both hands-on and by leading Jr. scientists and research associates. You will have an opportunity to work with a diverse team of biologists, biochemists, chemists and bioinformaticians to support drug discovery programs for next wave of RNA therapeutics.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
- Responsible for running the HTS platform.
- Manage a team of highly motivated scientists who will help to identify novel targets for the drug discovery team.
- Optimize the HTS platform utilizing cutting edge technologies.
- Work effectively in a cross-functional capacity with the bioinformatics team to deliver high-quality results in an efficient manner.
- Develop new cellular assays, to support novel drug modalities currently under investigation.
- Lead, mentor, and empower junior Research Associates.
- Contribute to daily lab management activities.
Primary Job Requirements:
- Ph.D. in Biology, Molecular Biology, Cellular Biology or Genetics.
- 5 years of relevant experience required, with at least 2 years in industry preferred.
- Proven track record of scientific innovation, as demonstrated by peer reviewed publications and/or presentations.
- Experience in designing, planning, and executing experiments independently is required.
- Experience with automation and other high-throughput tools and instrumentation is required.
- Proficient in mammalian cell line and primary cell culture and transfection.
- Experience in common molecular biology techniques such as RNA isolation, PCR/qPCR is required.
- Experience in common biochemical and immunological assays such as ELISA/MSD/Luminex, Western blot is required.
- Scientific background in ncRNA and RBP biology is a plus.
- Capacity for quantitative and/or statistical analysis using common software tools (e.g., GraphPad Prism, Microsoft Suite, etc.).
- Management experience is a plus.
- Proactive and efficient to enable high-quality results while fostering a positive work environment.
