Job Overview:  Looking for a talented Sr. Scientist with NGS assay development experience as well as a background in gene editing.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the design, development, and execution of sensitive molecular and genomic assays for on- and off-target editing detection and quantification
  • Perform DNA/RNA extraction, PCR, RT-qPCR, ddPCR, NGS library preparation, QC and sequencing instrument operation
  • Evaluate various sequencing and genomic approaches to assess off-target editing and genomic stability (third-generation methods, FISH/optical-based)
  • Perform gene editing of human cell lines and primary cells
  • Lead the design and execution of experiments, data interpretation, and lead troubleshooting with oversight from senior scientific personnel
  • Drive internal and external collaborations, including CRO management and relationship-building
  • Participate in drafting presentations and present findings at regular internal research meetings
  • Mentorship and training of junior scientific personnel
  • Maintain a clear, detailed laboratory notebook to document all experiments and findings
  • Comply with best safety practices

Qualifications:

  • PhD in molecular biology, biochemistry, genetics, genomics, or a related discipline with 4-6 years post-graduate experience (industry preferred)
  • Technically proficient in molecular biology and standard cloning approaches
  • Hands-on experience with gene editing approaches
  • Experience with mammalian cell culture, transfection, and cell-line generation
  • Hands-on experience in gene editing
  • Exceptional communication, organization, and technical writing skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work both independently and in teams with a strong sense of teamwork, passion, and scientific integrity
  • Immediate availability
  • Knowledge of bioinformatic approaches and interpretation of genome-scale data
