Job Scope & Purpose:

Our Cambridge, soon to be Andover based client is seeking an experienced Scientist to join the Pharmacology/Toxicology group. The successful candidate will join a team of skilled pharmacologists focusing on preclinical evaluation of antitumor efficacy and safety of novel oncolytic viruses.  He/she will be responsible for implementing a research plan geared towards developing therapeutic strategies for high unmet therapeutic need indications. Primary Job Responsibilities:

• Within the broad framework of project goals, scientists are encouraged to propose, test, and drive their own scientific ideas to foster platform and drug candidate innovation.
• Serve as pharmacology lead on program teams, providing guidance and direction on pharmacology strategy and experimental design. 
• Develop mouse tumor models suitable to screen novel oncolytic viral vectors and address project specific questions.
• Design, conduct and analyze results of in vivo pharmacology studies evaluating antitumor efficacy, mechanism of action and safety of armed oncolytic viruses.
• Oversee execution of pharmacology and nonclinical toxicology studies through multiple external Contract Research Organizations (CROs).
• Oversee development of analytical assays to support pharmacology and IND-enabling toxicology studies. 
• Closely collaborate with the molecular biology and virology, immunology, and translational biology teams to achieve project milestones.
• Contribute to writing patents, technical and scientific publications, and regulatory documents.

Primary Job Requirements:

• Ph.D. degree in biology/pharmacology or closely related field with at least 2 years of post-degree research experience
• Applicants should have established expertise in preclinical pharmacology as demonstrated by a track record of high-impact publications.
• Excellent knowledge and hands on experience of mouse tumor models including syngeneic, xenograft and humanized mouse models.
• Deep understanding of tumor biology and immunology.
• Proficiency in animal handling including tumor implantation, dosing via multiple routes of administration and sampling.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to work effectively within a team environment is essential.
• Prior experience in managing collaborations with contract research organizations is a plus.
